# Using Work Stats

## About the plugin

Get sum-ups about your work right on the dashboard.

## Add plugin to dashboard

First add the gadget to one of the dashboards available (or create a new dashboard). Add the gadget like any other one by:\
1- Click **Edit** on the dashboard.\
2- Locate the **Work Stats** gadget on the list to the right.\
3- Click **Add**.

## Configure the plugin

Add the stats required on the configuration screen of the plugin. Each stat requires a name, filter id and a field to sum-up. By default sum-up will calculate the total summation of the values of the field in the given filter search results.

### Getting the Filter Id

First make sure there's a saved fitler, not just a JQL search. While viewing the filter, the filter id will be written at the end of the URL of the page. Filter Id is a 5 digits number starting with 1 (example: 10023, 10008)

## Use the plugin

After successful configuration the plugin will display the stats configured each in a separate box. Each stat has the name and the stat value, additionally each stat value is a link to the filter used.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.totallycalculated.com/work-stats/using-work-stats.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
